MoreTrouble in the North Caucasus
The Russian economic crisis has put the subservient states of the North Caucasus states in a precarious position. Unemployment is rising. Available cash is sparse. Islamic guerrillas play to these shortcomings in an effort to increase their recruits. Though the situation in Chechnya is calmer, Ingushitia, Dagestan and Kabardino-Balkaria have become the new front lines.
