The future of the Balkans lies in economic union
First the fall of communism, then the disintegration of Yugoslavia, finally the war. The commercial flow in Southeast Europe has slowed down to a trickle. But, greater economic integration would most certainly help the Balkans pick up speed and, above all, would ease the entrance of the countries of this area in the European Community and, not least, would be a requirement for a future of peace and political integration.
