There is a common language that overcomes divisions

Europe has almost never had a civic, political or historical unity. But, for centuries, it has had a civil, cultural and spiritual unity. The lodestar of reference and contrast has been Christianity, but also Greek philosophy, Roman law, liberal Enlightenment and the workers’ movement, intended as the fight for social justice, have played their indisputable role.
