Postcards from Iraq
Despite boasts of a more secure Iraq, Baghdad remains very much a war zone. Departing American troops are being replaced by a still-unstable local police force buttressed by security contractors who rely on cheap, Third World mercenaries to police the unstable city. Most of them can’t wait to leave the country. No wonder thousands of the capitals Chaldean Christians are fleeing north, hoping for a better life.
