On 30 August 2016, Senator Flexa Ribeiro, a member of the opposition conservative party Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB), ended his address by quoting the song “Apesar de você” by Chico Buarque, an anthem of defiance against dictatorships. The senator employed the song as a political and personal provocation against Dilma Rousseff, who is friends with Buarque. “Dilma, tomorrow will be another day, in spite of you!”, the senator shouted.
