The abolition of roaming charges is a huge bonus for European citizens who can now chat their way through Europe at no extra charge.

The Erasmus programme is without a doubt the most popular initiative introduced by the European Union since it was first established. The Erasmus generation is made up of those young people who have grown up in a united Europe and who, more than any other generation, feel part of the European Union.

But there’s another measure that is likely to become even more popular, one that will help citizens of member states to feel even more European and give them a better idea of the kinds of advantages that can be secured when the Union looks after its citizens rather than counting the decimal points of national budgets: the abolition of roaming charges.
