The world economy would be moving at a predictable pace if it weren’t exposed to the turbulent political climate that could make for a surprising 2017.

This is the time of year when we all think about what might happen in the new year. Even in the best of times, forecasting is a tricky – if quite enjoyable – task, but as the global political order of the post-Cold War period seems to be coming to an end, forecasting surely turns from difficult to impossible.
