Irrepressible globalisation

Internationalisation has opened markets and reduced poverty. Regardless of protectionist inclinations, this is a tidal wave that can’t be stopped.

Some venerate it, some see it as the devil, but there’s no point thinking that you can avoid it. Humanity and globalisation have always gone hand in hand. Since the early days of civilisation, human beings (as social animals) have tried to find new ways of establishing relationships with others of their kind, and these relations have often involved
trade. Anthropologically speaking, globalisation constitutes a crucial step in human evolution. It’s often viewed as something to be banished. Yet without globalisation, the large-scale levels of prosperity that humanity currently enjoys would have been impossible.
