Immediately after the war, the Bosnian political elite used violence and intimidation to keep the dispossessed at bay.  Though the stance has since softened, the underlying realities remain unchanged. The party and the ethnicity to which you belong defines your future. Fail to honor the separation and you can’t find work. In some ways, Bosnia is a postmodern citadel of apartheid.
