CLIMATE – The EU is pressing, but has Donald Trump to contend with
The EU has been key to the implementation of the Paris climate agreement. From 4 November 2016, for the first time in history, the governments of the world accepted legally binding limitations to the increase in global temperatures. Shortly afterwards, however, the US electorate chose Donald Trump as their president, a man who has referred to global warming as “a hoax”. The US accounts for approximately 16% of the world’s greenhouse gas production, compared to 10% in the EU.
