WEB TAX – Europe makes a move

The European Commission has launched a public consultation to “define an approach on how to tax the digital economy”. In other words, it wants to create a European system of web taxation that might specifically target Internet giants such as Google, Facebook and Amazon. The EU commissioner for economic affairs, Pierre Moscovici, has been very clear on this point: “The member states want to find a way to tax the huge profits generated by digital economic activities in their countries. We need a European solution to the problem”.
