SYRIA – A lasting peace plan? US Secretary of State John Kerry is convinced that the Syrian peace agreement which America has signed with Russia will hold together this time.
The Syrian rebels are less certain. What is Kerry seeing that the rebels aren’t? There is little evidence to suggest that the new deal will stick. But the fact that Kerry and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov have finally managed to agree on a common strategy, which includes carrying out joint operations against Islamic State, is a positive sign.
