‘‘God is dead” signed Nietzsche. To the famous quote attributed to the German philosopher, someone has sarcastically replied: “Nietzsche is dead” signed God.

In fact, given what we are witnessing today, the announcement of God’s death would seem a little hasty. For an entire historical era, we have assumed that religion was slowly being condemned to the dustbin of history. Sociologists, historians and philosophers all agreed on the diagnosis: the divine presence in the contemporary world was on the way to becoming irrevocably extinct. As things stand, that conclusion would not only seem wrong, but superseded by the resurrection of an omnipresent God.
