How many wars are going on in Ukraine? A clash of historical viewpoints, cultures and identities is taking place alongside the military and geopolitical conflict. A clash between Russian sympathisers and independentist forces. A clash of ambitions (and values?) between the West and Eurasia. None of the powers at war seems to have a reason to broker a peace. And civilians emigrate rather than hope.

A highly polarised country heads back to the polling booths. With Lula’s left wing Labour Party clearly in the lead, President Jair Bolsonaro is already harping on about voter fraud and there’s fears of a Brazilian edition of the Capitol Hill riots.
