TAXES - Apple: Historic precedent?
TAXES – Apple: Historic precedent?
According to a resolution passed by the European Commission in late August, Ireland will be required to recover taxes that Apple had avoided paying between 2003 and 2014, a total of over 13 billion dollars (€12bn). The ruling has caused a stir, but the matter has by no means been resolved. The Irish government has decided to appeal the ruling (and, as to be expected, so has Apple). Ireland is refusing to collect a sum equal to the country’s annual health budget. But the US Department of the Treasury has its own views on the matter.
