Anti-globalisation: Naomi Klein meets Trump

The No Logo movement against multinationals and the Earth’s exploitation is increasingly fashionable. Chomsky, Farage, Le Pen and Grillo all agree.

The movement or political fashion of being against globalisation has become such a broad church that it is difficult to believe that it has retained any core beliefs. What could possibly unite Noam Chomsky, Donald Trump, Beppe Grillo, Hillary Clinton, Nigel Farage and Marine Le Pen? Admittedly, there are some minor differences in their terminologies. Farage and Trump campaigned against “globalism”, Hillary Clinton (like Bernie Sanders) talked about “globalisation”, and Marine Le Pen sticks to the French “mondialisation”. In Italy, the movement is called “No Global”, and while this expression is not used in the English-speaking world, it provides some clues about the origins and history of this popular stream of opinion.
